Service Description
Investigating the numinous beauty of nature and life sustaining processes is the wonderful gift science has waiting for every student; however, many find its theoretical components to be somewhat challenging. CLC tutors meld theory with application through dynamic modeling and visualization strategies that guide students through complicated material. Our tutors are especially trained and supervised by the director, Mrs. Patricia Felton, to create a personalized learning approach for each student’s scientific development. Tutors are trained to concentrate on guiding students through an introduction of foundational scientific concepts in the following per grade-level curriculum subtopics: introduction to the study of life, introduction to the chemical foundation of life, biological macromolecules, cell structure, structure and function of plasma membranes, metabolism, cellular respiration, photosynthesis, cell communication, cell reproduction, meiosis and sexual reproduction, Mendel’s experiments and heredity, modern understandings of inheritance, DNA structure and function, genes and proteins, gene regulation, biotechnology and genomics, evolution and origin of species, evolution of populations, phylogenies and the history of life, viruses, prokaryotes, plant form and physiology, animal form and physiology, animal nutrition and digestive system, nervous system, sensory systems, endocrine system, musculoskeletal system, respiratory system, circulatory system, immune system, osmotic regulation and excretion, animal reproduction and development, ecology and the biosphere, population and community ecology, ecosystems, conservation, and biodiversity.
