Service Description

Math can be a scary subject for many students because it’s one that they rarely get to experience and “feel” in the same way as they may in everyday conversation with language or when observing an experiment in science class. CLC tutors unlock the practical applications of mathematical computation and modeling, while presenting foundational building blocks of mathematical theory to give students the confidence to succeed. Our tutors are especially trained and supervised by the director, Mrs. Patricia Felton, to create a personalized learning approach for each student’s scientific development. Tutors are trained to concentrate on guiding students through an introduction of foundational scientific concepts in the following per grade level curriculum subtopics: (Grade 1) bar graphs, pictographs, counting to 120, tens and ones place values, comparison of two-digit numbers, addition and subtraction of one-digit numbers and by tens, and part-whole concepts of one-digit numbers; and (Grade 2) counting within 1000, hundreds, tens, and ones place values, numerals to 1000, comparison of three-digit numbers, addition and subtraction situations with unknown values within 100, and mental strategies involving sums to 20.
